Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that brings the happiness out in people. Seeing family and friends all together enjoying time and my favorite part, delicious food together. It however can be stressful for the ones who are preparing the meal itself. In this apple and walnut stuffing, the recipe is simple and is packed with sweet and savory flavors cooked into the bread. The top of the stuffing is crisp from the added butter to the top while the middle is soft like traditional stuffing.
When it comes to making stuffing, the better bread you use the better the stuffing will turn out. In this recipe, you cube the bread and toast them until golden brown in place of letting the bread dry out over night cutting the start finish time down to a manageable time.
Are you looking to bring big flavor without spending too much time in the kitchen, this heart-warming root vegetable au gratin brings the best of fall flavor into your kitchen with a few, simple ingredients. The rutabaga and potatoes are cooked quickly on the stove top to cut down the baking time and help mend all of the flavors together. Then the vegetables are baked tender covered with fresh creamy fontina cheese. This dish is perfect for a side dish for the holidays and the fontina cheese can be exchanged with fresh parmesan cheese.
As the weather begins to cool off, it become the time of year for some good hearty soups. This southwestern bean and barley soup fits that bill quite well. The soup is packed with beans and barley making you feel filled and the southwestern flavors make the soup taste fantastic. The soup is vegetarian making it a perfect choice for anyone.
In the crazy world we are living in, especially if you have hungry kids, there is always the need for an easy weeknight meal that will deliver happy full bellies. In the zesty skillet macaroni with meat sauce is the perfect dish. The pasta is cooked to perfectly tender in a homemade zesty meat sauce that thickens as it cooks and topped with creamy cheese and basil. The best part is the meal takes under 30 minutes and requires 1 skillet with a lid.
One of the most dredged vegetables out there is the brussel sprouts. It feels like most kids are tortured to eat these growing up. It seems like I was one of those kids that wasn't lucky, probably one of the reasons I enjoy eating them. Brussel sprouts are full of nutritious fiber, fatty acids and rich in antioxidants.
These Firecracker Brussels sprouts have a great pop of chili flavor, but does not overwhelm the taste of the brussel sprouts.. They are oven-roasted and full of flavor and crisp around the edges but tender inside. If you are ever on the verge of trying them, this recipe is a good one to bring them back to your plate.
When looking for a great mid week dinner, the ease of cleaning up after is just as important as the time it takes to cook. In this creamy pasta with baby spinach, the whole dish is made in one single pan, which makes the clean up just as quick. The pasta comes out perfectly cooked and packed with fresh spinach all covered in a cream sauce that makes it self with the cream and parmesan cheese. The whole dish can be made in under 30 minutes.
As it goes with asian inspired food, the go to is a simple stir-fry. It seems like everyone has a certain recipe that they love and can be made in minutes. This beef and pepper stir fry is no different. The stir fry can be made in under 20 minutes and is packed with flavors from all of the spices and cooking liquids the stir fry is tossed in at the end. The stir fry is served with simple to use pad thai noodles that made a great substitution for the standard rice.
With the temperatures going down, its time to buckle down with some great fall meals. Shepard's pie is a great hearty meal that is typically made with lamb, but ground beef is a great replacement if ground lamb is not available. In this easy and delicious sweet potato shepard's pie, the meal packed with meat and vegetables and topped with a sweet and delicious sweet potato topping. The dish is very easy and healthy meal that is perfect for any family. The ingredients are very simple and easy to find anywhere.
When it comes to weekday meals, everyone thinks you can have a restaurant-style meal at home within minutes. This Italian stuffed chicken breast is a super quick and easy recipe that is overflowing with flavors that takes minutes to prepare and cooks in under 15 minutes. The chicken comes out juicy and tender and pairs amazing with the mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, spinach and of course the gooey mozzarella cheese.
Here is Minnesota, the whole summer is ended by one of the largest state fairs in the county. The Minnesota state fair brings millions of people yearly (the largest single day is in the 270,000 people). Every year there is new and unique dishes that show up. For me, my favorite is the classic corn dog. The sweet corn breading around the hot dog is the perfect summer snack. Sadly this year it was cancelled due to the current situations going on so i had to make myself my own corn dogs. This recipe is very close to what you would get at the state fair. The preparation is simple and takes on a few minutes to make from start to finish. The honey give the corn breading a golden brown color and a perfect level of sweetness. Check out the recipe below.
