When it comes to fried appetizers, it seems like most aren't worth the extra calories. However with fried pickles, they are worth it. The crunch of the exterior and the warm tangy flavor of the warm pickle inside is hard to just eat one. In these fried pickle bites, you get to enjoy the whole thing in one bite. They are great with or without the sauce, but with the addition of the dipping sauce add another layer of flavor to these great little appetizers that is perfect for your next get together or game day.
In a mixing bowl or rimmed plate, whisk together flour, dill, garlic powder, paprika and pepper. Add the buttermilk and egg. Mix until smooth.
On clean paper towels, dried the sliced pickle spears completely.
Working in batches, add dried pickles pieces to the batter, gently toss to coat. Using a slotted spoon, remove pickles from the batter and let excess drip off. Gently add pickles to the oil and fry for about 2 minutes or until golden. Remove and let drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with Salt.
For the dipping sauce, add all of the ingredients to a bowl and mix until combined and smooth.
Serve right away with the dipping sauce or your favorite condiments.
