Broccoli salad is one of the most common potluck and picnic salads. The broccoli has a great crunch and goes great with the raisins, walnuts, cheese and onion. The salad is topped with a classic mayonnaise and vinegar sauce that covers the ingredients, but doesn't pool on the bottom that needs consistent stirring. This broccoli salad is very easy to make and only has a few steps that can be done within minutes. Check out the recipe below in the post.
In a small bowl, whisk the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and salt and pepper. Mix until combine. The recipe I use does not have any sugar added like typical dressing. It still has a great flavor with the addition of salt and pepper that the sugar is not missed.
In a large bowl, add the broccoli, raisins, shallot, bacon, walnuts and cheddar cheese.
Pour the mayonnaise sauce on top and toss until evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper if needed. The dressing should be just be enough to cover everything without a lot of excess.
When you think of an old time diner one of the first dishes you think of is a patty melt. A patty melt is the perfect blend of a cheese burger and a grilled cheese. A patty melt is a great sandwich which puts a beef burger, caramelized onions and melted swiss cheese in between two slices of toasted rye bread. It is not a great meal if you are trying to stay low fat, but everyone needs to cheat meal every once and awhile. Aren't I right?? Check out the recipe below in post.
Chimichurri sauce is an Argentina sauce that is great for marinating and as a condiment on top of grilled meat. The chimichurri sauce is a very vibrant green color and is very similar to a pesto that uses cilantro and parsley in place of basil. With these grilled shrimp you use the chimichurri sauce for a marinate then use it as a finishing sauce that packs the shrimp with great flavor inside and out. It is perfect as a meat portion of a meal or as an appetizer. Check out the recipe below in the post.
In the summer, some of the best foods are the ones that are light and bright. This asparagus, potato and corn salad is full of colorful vegetables that are tossed in a lemon olive oil dressing. The salad is topped with a parmigiano cheese that gives it a bit of richness and flavor. The salad is perfect for a large dinner since the salad remains the same consistency through as people are digging in. The dressing is very light which is perfect for a hot summer night. The best complement for any cut of pork is sugar. It helps bring out the natural sweetness that is found in the pork. The combination of the sugar seasoning coating and the honey and maple syrup complement the natural sweetness of the pork chops without becoming over sweet. These honey-maple glazed pork chops have a great smokey char that gets in cased in the sweet honey-maple glaze. The addition of the mustard and vinegar help make the glaze stick to the pork chops unlike most glazes that get melted right off while on the grill. Check out the recipe below in post.
