For me, there is nothing like a great cooked grilled steak. The smell of it cooking and the taste right off the grill definitely puts me in a great place. In this chili glazed steak, it is perfect for the person who loves sauce with the steak. The marinade adds great flavor into the steak and the glaze at the last moment really adds a sweet flavor that is delicious. The flank steak can be swapped out for any type of quick cooking steak. The flank steak is a great steak due to the different things you can make off this recipe. It is perfect for steak tacos, sandwiches or just with a side of potatoes or rice.
Add the chipotle chili powder, garlic, oregano and 4 tablespoons of the olive oil to a food processor or blender. Puree until very smooth.
Season the steaks with salt and pepper and rub with half of the chile puree. Transfer the steaks to a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours
In a mixing bowl, add the remaining chile puree, brown sugar and vinegar. Light a grill or preheat a grill pan. Brush the steaks with oil and grill over moderate heat until medium-rare, 12 minutes; brush with 3 tablespoons of the glaze in the last 2 minutes. Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes before slicing 1/2 inch thick. Serve the steaks with the remaining chile glaze.
