Sloppy joes is a favorite with everyone of all ages and is a classic americana meal that almost everyone has enjoyed. Sloppy joes is a great midweek dinner that is inexpensive and extremely easy and quick to make. The meal can be made ahead of time and reheated in a pan and tastes just as good. If you are looking for a healthier option, serve the sloppy joe mix over lettuce to cut the additional carbs from the bun.
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Cook the onions until soft and tender, about 5 minutes.
Add the ground beef and cook, stirring frequently while breaking up the large clumps. Cook the meat until no longer pink Drain excess fat if needed.
In a bowl, mix all of the remaining ingredients besides the buns
Stir the sauce into the cooked beef mixture and heat until hot and sauce has thickened, about 5-10 minutes. Optional, In a 325F degree oven toast the buns until warmed and slightly toasted, about 8-10 minutes. Spoon the sloppy joes over the bottoms of each bun equally and serve.
