This orange chicken recipe can be made in the time the jasmine rice takes to cook. All of the ingredients are easy to find, most people have everything in there cupboard and refrigerator. The chicken is not breaded making it a great option for someone that is cutting back on carbs or looking for a light and delicious dinner. It is a great easy recipe that anyone can make and is perfect any day of the week.
Cook the rice according to the directions on the packaging. While the rice cooks, add the orange juice, soy sauce, orange zest, sesame oil, ginger, brown sugar and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Whisk in the cornstarch until smooth.
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil until hot. Add the chicken and onions and cook until mostly cooked throughout and the onions are softened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the sauce and bring it to a slight boil allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the chicken. Season with any additional Salt and pepper. Serve the chicken over the cooked rice.
