In this sizzling Grilled Korean beef, the meat is sliced thin and marinaded for few hours in a very flavorful marinade and grilled quick and hot. The beef comes out crisp and caramelized on the outside, but very tender inside. The marinade has a great simple sweet and spicy flavor. This recipe is based of bulgogi beef, which translate to fire meat. It is marinated meat that is cooked at very hot temperature either on a grill or stir fried. that is common in Korea.
In a large, shallow dish, combine the soy sauce with the brown sugar, white wine, garlic, sesame oil and crushed red pepper, stirring until smooth.
Add the sliced flank steak and coat thoroughly in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate the steak for at least 4 hours.
Light a grill or heat a heavy bottom skillet. Brush the scallions all over with vegetable oil and grill them over high heat, turning once, until the scallions are just softened, about 1-2 minutes. Season with salt.
Let your grill get very hot, grill the steak over high heat until the slices are richly browned and slightly cooked through, about 30 seconds to 1 minute per side. Transfer the steak to a serving platter and serve with the grilled scallions and steamed rice. |
