If you are looking for a great side dish that is simple to prepare and can go with pretty much any dish, check out these szechuan green beans. These szechuan green beans are a chinese takeout staple that packs a great amount of heat and flavor from the green beans. The green beans are saute over heat until they are cooked them tossed at the last few minutes with the remaining few and pantry staple ingredients to make the perfect side dish or even main dish.
In a small cup or bowl, combine the soy sauce and brown sugar. Set aside.
In a pan over medium-high heat, heat the oil until nearly smoking. Add the green beans and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly until beans get darker green and tender.
Add the water chestnuts, red pepper flakes, ginger and garlic and stir for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the soy sauce mixture and stir. Liquid will boil up slightly and cover the green beans.
Sprinkle with the sesame seeds and serve over rice.
